Most Animal Crossing players have come across game objects they love. Whether it’s a sun-blocking hat or a towering monster statue protecting your home, Nintendo has created a deep content pit for gamers. And that’s not all. Players can also create their own custom designs which can be shared for free with anyone in the world. Custom designs show the player’s artistic abilities and often bring licensed content into the game, like an Overwatch t-shirt or a painting of a certain goose.
Custom content can be added in two ways. The first is NookLink, which is part of the Nintendo Switch Online service available on your real phone (which requires a subscription to Switch Online). NookLink allows you to scan QR codes using your phone’s camera. Once a code has been successfully scanned, display your fake phone in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and access custom templates to find the item to note.
The second way takes just a bit of play (and a Switch Online subscription). Once you’ve unlocked the Able Sisters store, you’ll find a terminal that leads to the Custom Designs portal. Here you can enter a code (as shown in the images below) to download a specific item or see what a specific designer has done. You can also use this portal to upload and share your own wonderful creations.
Below is a selection of some of the coolest items from the Inside Gamer crew found so far. Many come from Margaret Andrews and Kristin Williams, two of Inside Gamer’s web designers and programmers. They have a great eye for the content of the game and wanted to share it with all of you. Hopefully this list will continue to grow over the year with new discoveries. We would also like to see your favorite art or pieces in the comments section below.
Have fun playing and beware of tarantulas!
